On Holy Thursday, 1 April, Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, Dean of the College of Cardinals, presided at the Holy Mass of the Lord’s Supper (“In Coena Domini”) in the Vatican Basilica. Concelebrating with him were cardinals, bishops, senior members of the Secretariat of State led by Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin and canons of the Basilica. After Mass, which this year did not include the traditional rite of the washing of the feet and the offertory procession, the concelebrants proceeded to the chapel of Saint Joseph, where Cardinal Re led the silent adoration of the Most Holy Sacrament.
