In the interest of balance I feel I must respond to the letter from Dennis Grattan regarding his views of Ian Blackford.
He totally misses the point that Ian Blackford is making about immigrants and the Tories’ intention to restrict immigration into little England.
Scotland is a much more open and welcoming country and we need people from all walks of life to come and work here.
The bagpipe comment is petty and childish, as are Boris Johnson’s so-called replies to any questions.
I would be grateful if Mr Grattan could provide one, just one example of when Ian Blackford has stated that people from England would not be welcome in an independent Scotland, but I suspect that, as usual, it’s Mr Grattan’s rude and loud view that would prevail. ....

What was witnessed in Kenmure Street, Glasgow, was immigration officers going about their difficult, legal duty and being stopped from doing their job by a large group of supposedly, local people.
I don’t know of any of my friends or neighbours who own megaphones or ready made printed placards.
This suggests the crowd had a fair sprinkling of political activists.
We all have laws which we do not like but adhere to them and abide by them.
Immigration rules and laws are no different.
Accusations of brutality and heavy handedness are the usual political point-scoring. ....

The image of the sow looking out from a metal crate in Saturday’s Evening Express was horrific.
Pigs are intelligent creatures. They should be outside with their piglets rooting around and being allowed to perform their natural behaviours.
The “farmers” arguing for crates say they are to prevent the sow crushing her piglets and the metal slats are to make cleaning easier. The bottom line is they are only interested in making as much money as they can with the minimal outlay.
If you enjoy eating pork products but also love animals please consider buying free-range or outdoor- bred products. These products are more expensive but the welfare of the animals is much higher. ....

Vegetables, fruit, seeds, cereals, beans, spices, superfoods, herbs, condiment in wooden box for vegan, gluten free, allergy-friendly, clean eating and raw diet.
While there are many actions we can take today on Earth Day to help the environment – including recycling, using water sparingly, and helping to preserve forests – we must also acknowledge that we cannot call ourselves environmentalists while still eating meat.
If we wish to protect the Earth – and all the beings who reside here – we must stop supporting industries that raze forests, pollute land and waterways, waste water, and generate enormous amounts of greenhouse-gas emissions. We can shun all these industries in one fell swoop by going vegan. ....
