Applause ended President Joe Bidenâs town hall, an hour-long event anticipated by many in Cincinnati, drawing supporters and detractors alike. The discussion encompassed a myriad of topics from foreign policy to COVID-19. Â
Brian Calfano âpolitical science and journalism professor at UCâs College of Arts and Sciences â emphasized how Bidenâs town hall served to measure Mid-Western votersâ pulse, and their willingness to accept the Biden administrationâs platform.Â
Biden came to Cincinnati âfor the same reason Trump liked coming here: the region is on the bleeding edge of the defection of reliably Democratic Party constituencies, and Biden thinks he s able to stave off that defection to some extent,â he says.Â

Correction: A previous version of this story suggested Gable and Allgood are the first women to be elected to student body president and vice president during the same term. This is not true and the story has been updated to reflect that.Â
Â
April Gable and Taylor Allgood have been elected as the University of Cincinnatiâs (UC) next undergraduate student body president and vice president for 2021-22.Â
Both Gable and Allgood became involved in Undergraduate Student Government (SG) as first-year students and rose through the ranks eventually being elected to the position of senator-at-large.Â
Voting is being held on canopy beginning March 1 and lasting through March 5.Â
The student body president serves as the primary representative of SG and is responsible for executing legislation approved by the senate, appointing cabinet and executive staff positions, and representing the student body during university committees.Â

Like many of those vying for the position of student body president, Gableâs candidacy follows her rise through the ranks of Undergraduate Student Government (SG).Â
Joining SG as a first-year student, Gabel started in the mentoring program before moving to a position on executive staff and then being elected last year to serve as a senator-at-large.Â
