MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says it will not reinvestigate a deadly Minneapolis police shooting from 2013.
In a letter sent to Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman, the BCA said there is no new evidence to reexamine in the death of 22-year-old Terrance Franklin.

Winston Smith Jr. s killing by members of a federal task force in Minneapolis last month is prompting fresh scrutiny of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, along with its newly formed unit dedicated to investigating violent or deadly police encounters and other misconduct.
The latest investigation lies with the year-old Force Investigations Unit (FIU), specifically dedicated to decreasing law enforcement violence. The unit has 23 staffers, including a special-agent-in-charge, two assistant special agents, 13 senior special agents, two criminal intelligence analysts and a victim, family and community relations coordinator.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is considering opening an investigation into a fatal 2013 Minneapolis police shooting.
The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office says the office has reviewed new evidence since taking the case to a grand jury.
“We sent a letter in early May to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension suggesting they should consider doing a new investigation. The BCA was not the original investigating agency so they would be taking an outside, independent look,” HCAO officials said in a statement  Saturday. ....
