With or without masks, Memorial Day weekend business was brisk on Cape Cod

Standing behind stanchions connected by black rope, customers waited patiently in line Monday for Caylee Guss to let them into tiny lululemon at Mashpee Commons. The limit had to do with the fire code, not COVID-19 restrictions, though there were mask and distancing restrictions posted.
Masks were encouraged, and there were extras on hand should a customer need one. Shoppers were advised to keep 6 feet apart. And those not feeling well were encouraged to stay home.

Provincetown Memorial Day 2021

Wicked Local
PROVINCETOWN – Memorial Day Weekend marks the start of the town’s summer season. It also is the end of year-long COVID-19 restrictions.
In pre-pandemic times, this meant hundreds of young women grouped together on boats and in nightclubs with six-packs on each shoulder in what has been dubbed as “baby dyke weekend.”
Last year the streets were quiet, as many retail businesses and restaurants were closed.
“The big word last year was ‘pivot.’ The big word this year is ‘reimagine,’” said the town’s director of tourism, Anthony Fuccillo.
Gov. Charlie Baker announced Monday, May 17, that the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend May 29 is the new target date for the end of nearly all remaining COVID-19 restrictions in the state. The town will continue to follow state guidelines, said Board of Health Director Morgan Clark during a remote meeting May 20.   ....
