East Michigan Environmental Action Council (EMEAC) is seeking a visionary, talented, and resourceful leader to serve as an interim co-director of the organization. The position runs from 6/1/2021 through 12/31/2021. The global pandemic resulted in the temporary closing of the Cass Commons, a vital community resource. The closure of the Commons also caused a precipitous drop in revenue. In spite of these obstacles, the EMEAC team put young activists going door to door in several neglected neighborhoods of Detroit’s Black community where they were trained, delivered important community education and worked to Get Out The Vote. This dual foundation the liberated space we call the Commons nurturing and creating community and outreach work are critical additions to EMEAC’s environmental justice and educational projects, expanding and deepening EMEAC’s place in the struggle for community ....

Hawaii State Judiciary News Release: Further Security Upgrades Slated for Hoapili Hale

WAILUKU, Hawaii – The Hawaii State Judiciary is advising court users to be aware of two renovation projects beginning this month at Hoapili Hale.
“We are continuing to make the security improvements proposed by the National Center for State Courts in 2013, after it conducted a comprehensive security review of our courthouse,” said Second Circuit Chief Judge Richard T. Bissen. “We completed phase one in 2015 and now phase two will get underway next week.” ....

HAWAII STATE JUDICIARY NEWS RELEASE: Chief Justice Appoints District and District Family Court Judges

HONOLULU – Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald today appointed two individuals to fill judicial positions in the District and District Family Courts of the Second Circuit.
Christopher M. Dunn has been appointed to the District Court, replacing Judge Kelsey Kawano, who is now sitting on the Circuit Court bench. Dunn has 25 years of trial experience, handling a high volume of cases representing privately-retained and court-appointed clients in District, Family and Circuit Courts, and administrative proceedings. He has been in his own private practice on Maui for the past 18 years, and previously was in private practice in Massachusetts. Dunn is a graduate of George Washington University ....
