Tyre industry welcomes new norms, pleads feasible timelines for compliance

‘New norms will help in improving road safety and making vehicles more fuel-efficient’
The tyre industry has welcomed draft norms involving new requirements for rolling resistance, wet grip and rolling sound emission, as stated in a draft notification released by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH).
The Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (ATMA) has stated that the new norms are a step in the right direction and will help in improving road safety and making vehicles more fuel-efficient, ATMA has stated.
“Tyre industry’s growth is underpinned by a sharp focus on technical and environmental parameters. The new draft norms will further align Indian standards with the best in operation internationally. Following the end of tough negotiations this morning between the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission without an agreement on the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), the Socialists and Democrats reiterate their commitment to fight for a sustainable CAP, which improves social rights, brings strong economic development to farmers and rural communities, and fights against climate change.
S&D coordinator in the agriculture committee, Paolo De Castro MEP, said:
“It was a missed opportunity, but our battle and our commitment to turn the Common Agricultural Policy into a true compass for social rights, for sustainable development and for a strong economic growth for the rural sectors and areas, will continue until eventually we will reach a real progressive agreement with the EU Council and the Commission. ....

On 27 May, Asliddin Khudaiberdiyev was jailed for teaching five boys and six adult men how to read the Koran and pray. The jailing followed a police and secret police raid on a Samarkand Region mosque as Muslims were preparing to worship. The raid came as the regime publicly announced and implemented increased restrictions across the country on under-18s attending mosques. Also, Religion Law changes are still going through parliament but the regime continues to hide the text its parliament is discussing.
On 27 May, a Judge in Samarkand Region jailed Muslim teacher Asliddin Khudaiberdiyev for 15 days to punish him for teaching men and boys in a mosque how to read the Koran and say the namaz prayer. Judge Aziz Akramov refused to explain to Forum 18 why he jailed Khudaiberdiyev for 15 days. The jailing followed a police and secret police raid on the mosque. ....
