DVIDS - News - 121st ARW Weather Flight support Homeland Response Force

COLUMBUS, Ohio Two members of the 121st Air Refueling Wing Weather Flight at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base recently stepped up to support the 73rd Troop Command as part of the Homeland Response Force at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania. Staff Sgt. Jordan Sheppard and Senior Airman Jordan Johnston, both weather specialists at the 121st ARW, were a part of this mission to help ensure the Capitol was was safe and secure for the inauguration of President Joe Biden.
“Our job as a weather flight was to provide forecasts for our location and for those in DC,” said Johnston. “We were there to let them know of any risks and potential impacts.” ....

New York Army National Guard Lt. Col. Michael Tagliafierro of Porters Corners, Saratoga County, has received a Meritorious Service Medal in recognition of his 37 years of military duty before retirement.
Tagliafierro also received the Order of St. Maurice, an award for excellence in infantry, and a New York State Conspicuous Service Medal. He is a veteran of two deployments to Iraq war and is authorized to wear the combat patch of the New York Army National Guard s 42nd Infantry Division, the Minnesota Army National Guard s 34th Infantry Division, and the active Army s 1st Infantry Division. ....

The cost of the Guard’s active duty in Ohio during the mission totaled more than $1.2 million, while its work in Washington totaled nearly $1.6 million, according to Stephanie Beougher, public information officer with the Adjutant General’s Department.
