Arrival of new Staten Island Railway cars delayed by coronavirus pandemic

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Staten Island Railway riders will have to wait a little longer for the new train cars coming to the borough’s lone line.
The first R211S pilot train was initially scheduled for delivery in December 2021, with delivery of the production-level trains expected to begin in September 2022 and wrap up by June 2023.
However, Kawasaki has indicated to the MTA that delays associated with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic have slowed production, pushing back the expected delivery dates.
Now, the pilot train, initially set to arrive in December 2021, is expected to be delivered eight months later, in August 2022.
