DELPHOS The Kiwanis have planned a two-day Fourth of July celebration to rival 2019, according to Chair Jamey Wisher.
“We have added a few events and all our bands are back from last year when we had to cancel the events on the tennis court,” Wisher said. “We are hoping the community comes out and supports us so we can continue to support our fellow community groups and events. Last year was chaos, so we’re hoping to make a good recovery this year.”
New this year are a Gun Raffle at 1 p.m. on July 3. Twenty guns will be raffled (see list on page 2-3B) and one lucky person will win a 9mm Sig Sauer 2022 with a custom holster. Gates open at 11:30 a.m., with a limit of 250 admitted. The raffle will be the only event on the tennis courts at the time. Tickets are $30 and include two drink tickets and lunch as well a chance to win the 9 ....

El Zagal Mystics Fish Fry Returns March 26th

The group will be serving up the meal of breaded cod, baked beans, coleslaw, potato wedges, buns, a beverage and root beer float dessert for those who come inside the event. The Fish Fry is set for Friday, March 26th from 4:30 PM to 7 PM at the Gladstone Inn. Tickets are $15 for adults, 6-12 years $5, and children under 6 are free.
Melhaff says the event has been well received and their club looks forward to putting it on every year. ....

Jr. Chamber donates $5,000

The Clarendon County Junior Chamber is known for hosting several fundraisers throughout the year in Clarendon. Through these fundraisers, the Junior Chamber raises money, all of which is funneled directly back into the community.
One of the ways they are giving back to the community this year is through a donation to the Turbeville Children’s Home.
The Turbeville Children’s Home, purchased by the PHCI and opened in 2016, is DSS funded. However, they are largely dependent on external donations to fund the many extracurricular activites that their children partake in.
These activities include youth retreats at the beach, bowling and movie nights, carowinds trips, and Christmas celebrations. ....
