Ron Johnson says FBI warned him Russia could be trying to use him


The FBI warned U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson in August that he could be a target for Russian disinformation, but he dismissed the briefing as a political ploy, according to the senator.  
Johnson, an Oshkosh Republican and loyal backer of former President Donald Trump, told the Washington Post that the FBI briefing didn t include specifics and he already knew of the threat from Russia. He said he believed he was being given the briefing so it could be used against him later. 
As the chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, Johnson spent much of 2019 and 2020 investigating the activities of Hunter Biden, the son of now-President Joe Biden who sat on the board of a Ukrainian energy company.  ....

Arizona Republicans begin “recount” of presidential election
A recount of 2.1 million ballots cast in Maricopa County, Arizona began on Friday, as ordered by the Republican-controlled Arizona state Senate. Dozens of people hired by a subcontractor of a pro-Trump consulting firm began going through the physical ballots at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix, the state capital.

The exercise can have no legal effect on the outcome of the 2020 elections. Arizona’s 11 electoral votes went to Democrat Joe Biden by a margin of 10,457 votes, and this result was certified by state officials, including the Republican governor and lieutenant-governor.
