More than a third (around 36%) of Wrangell’s population has signed up for the COVID-19 vaccine. That’s according to the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium which runs the community’s hospital.
SEARHC has administered 544 doses of COVID vaccine in Wrangell. That includes some second doses. The tribal health organization did not provide information about how many
people have been vaccinated to date.
SEARHC spokesperson Maegan Bosak said in an email that as of Wednesday afternoon, 917 people in Wrangell had signed up for the vaccine. Some have already received their initial dose. ....

WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M.), vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, hailed final passage of 12 Indian Affairs-related bills.
The 12 bills will now go to the president to be signed into law.
Udall also cheered Senate passage of seven additional Indian Affairs provisions, which must be passed by the House of Representatives.

Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) vice president of clinics Eric Gettis debarks Allen Marine boat, Melinda Leigh, with roughly 100 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. SEARHC chartered the vessel to get the first doses of the vaccine to Haines on Dec. 18 after winter weather prevented them from being flown in the previous day.
In the past week, more than 100 Chilkat Valley residents received the first of two shots required for Pfizer s COVID-19 vaccine.
On Friday, Dec. 18 at 10 a.m., roughly 100 doses of the vaccine arrived on an Allen Marine boat chartered by the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) after weather prevented the vaccine from being flown in the previous day. ....
