Mr. Doyle has been recognized by the National Cable Television Association with induction into its prestigious Cable Pioneers organization. Just like his great grandfather, who founded The Chronicle, Charles “Kip” Thieriot was in love with the communications business.
He was a member of the board of directors that ran the family-owned newspaper in the years before it was sold to the Hearst Corp., its current owner, but he was better known for directing The Chronicle’s fledgling venture into movie production and cable television.
His movies, among them “The Malibu Bikini Shop,” were full of fun and high spirits, much as he was. ....
