By Gabriel Ewepu – Abuja Civil Society Organisations, CSOs, Monday, expressed doubt over the positive outcome of the ongoing consultation on the review of 1999 Constitution across the six geopolitical zones and Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Speaking with Vanguard they said the amendment consultation should focus on areas Nigerians have been agitating for amendment on some gray areas that have hampered rapid development of the country after the return of democracy in 1999.
Some also called on the Buhari-led administration and the National Assembly to adopt the 2014 Confab report as a major instrument to amend the 1999 Constitution, which addressed most of the issues heating up the polity currently. ....

Thus, like German Foundations and other types of cornerstones are required in solid building constructions, so is hypothesis required in building theories in various social science disciplines. Grosso modo, hypothesis is the first stage of research reflections, after collation of data and preliminary study. The ultimate in the continuum of research processes is the theory, the final outcome of research finding, which, under normal situations, should guide political governance. It is not hypothesis, to begin with, that should be the foundation of or drive public governance. ....

I Regret Persuading Obasanjo to Establish NDDC, Says Oyofo

Senator Kassim Oyofo has expressed regrets that he was instrumental to the establishment of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Oyofo, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was a member
of the fourth and fifth National Assembly.
He expressed these concerns during an interview with THISDAY at the weekend.
He said he was astonished, discovering that the commission, now a cesspit of corruption, had killed the dream of its founding fathers.
He said that he regretted initiating the move in the first place.
At the senate, the septuagenarian served on the Senate Committee on the Environment as Vice Chairman and was at different times a member of Senate Committees on Petroleum, Solid Minerals, Police Affairs, Commerce and Niger Delta ....
