Delaware State Parks is a finalist in the 2021 National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management awarded by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration. Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control announced its Division of Parks and Recreation has been named a finalist for the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration’s National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management. Boy Scouts honor Brickley for conservation work
Former Virginia Delegate, David G. Brickley, of Woodbridge recently earned the Boy Scouts of America William T. Hornaday Gold Medal for Distinguished Service to Natural Resource Conservation at the Boy Scouts’ National Capital Area Council’s annual meeting.
Brickley, a retired attorney, has been active in the Boy Scouts of America for more than 40 years, and currently serves an assistant scout master of the all-girl troop 1888 in Fairfax.
He’s also the founder of the 9/11 National Memorial Trail, 1,300-mile biking, hiking and motor-friendly trail that connects the three 9/11 memorial sites via six states and the District of Columbia Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C. ....

Friends of St. Andrews State Park in Panama City turns 30 years old

PANAMA CITY BEACH For 30 years, St. Andrews State Park has relied on its friends.
A citizen support organization, the 501(c)3 nonprofit group Friends of St. Andrews State Park formed in 1991. Ed and Lisa Keppner were the original organizers; both biologists, they did a survey of plants in the park. Today, the Native Plant Nursery at the park still helps to maintain the landscaping needs.
Anne Ake became part of the organization in 1993 when she was serving on the board of the Visual Arts Center of Northwest Florida (now known as the Panama City Center for the Arts). She spoke with Karen Tucker, who was then doing public relations and outreach for District 1 State Parks, about holding a joint outdoor art show in the park. ....
