Who is Stefan Yanev - New Bulgarian Caretaker Prime Minister? - Novinite.com

Stefan
Yanev is 60 years old and has been in the military for 31 years. Since May 10, 2017, he has been the Secretary of the President for Security and Defense.
For the last time, he was in the spotlights of the media during the changes last summer in the Law on the National Security Service, which Rumen Radev vetoed, but the MPs overruled his veto.

In the caretaker government of Ognyan Gerdzhikov,
Stefan
Yanev was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense and as such was directly responsible for the organization of the general elections in April 2017. There was no serious criticism of his role, but this is not the case with regard to the post of Defense Minister. ....

ALEXANDRIA – Good Evening, Drifters
Those of you who have followed my work for some time may recall my quixotic quest to get the military to pay attention to the issues with our surge sealift fleet. Well, I have a new one for you: Fisheries. Fishing accounts for 20 percent of the protein in about half the world population’s diet. And, if you’ve not noticed, there are a ton of us.
When the Chinese Fishing Fleet descended on the Galapagos Islands two months ago, clearing out a natural wonder of its fish stocks, it hit me all at once: Fishing is on the fringes of my beat all the time. Many of the clashes between China and its neighbors in the South China Sea have to do with fishing. When, at the end of the Obama Administration, we looked very close to coming to blows with China, it was over Chinese incursions into Scarborough Shoal. ....

Because attacks on insular Japan are likely by missile, not invasion, Japanese citizens tend to see preventing missile attacks as the best way to defend the country. For example, in recent years a majority of Japanese people approved introducing the U.S.-made missile defense system Aegis Ashore to two locations in Japan. But weaponry alone is insufficient for total national defense. Adding the pillar of civilian participation to Japan’s security is urgently necessary.
The security environment surrounding Japan, including China’s military expansion and North Korea’s unstoppable nuclear program, will remain unpredictable. Technological advancements keep changing the rules and the game. Furthermore, the rapidly aging Japanese population has started facing a shortage of military personnel and more citizens vulnerable in emergencies. ....
