Care for some pi? Don’t mind if I do – March 14 is National Pi Day (not to be confused with the other National Pie Day in January) and it’s all about celebrating our inner geek by combining the love of a good slice of nice with the mathematical constant Pi (“π” or “pi”), originally defined as the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter.

Pi Day might make losing an hour for the daylight saving time change a little easier – or at least more appetizing.
Sunday, March 14 is both the annual ritual of changing clocks and the yearly celebration of the mathematical constant π (pi), which is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. The trillion-digit ratio is rounded to 3.14.
But you don't have to be a math whiz to be acutely aware that Pi Day – not to be confused with National Pie Day held in January – equals deals and discounts on circular food like pizza, pastry and pot pies.
Albert Einstein was born on Pi Day, and noted astrophysicist Stephen Hawking died on the made-up holiday in 2018.

Pi Day can be Pie Day with tasty New Bedford and Fall River foods

In honor of Pi Day, I decided to try some pies in Fall River and New Bedford. Yes, I know that Pi Day is honoring the 3.14 kind of mathematical pi and not actual melt-in-your-mouth flavorful pies… but, who turns down an excuse to eat pie? Besides, I missed National Pie Day on Jan. 23. So, put away those calculators and take out a fork as we eat our way through the SouthCoast.
…and when I say “eat our way through the SouthCoast,” it was more like “pickup” through the SouthCoast for COVID-19 safety reasons. So, instead, I picked up the pies and baked them later that night to try with my parents.

Looking for a sweet, fruit-filled pie for dessert? Or a savory pot pie for dinner?
Several Utah entrepreneurs have launched pie-baking businesses in recent months that make getting one of these flaky, baked treats — in whole and individual sizes — as easy as, well, pie.
This list comes just in time for “Pi Day.”
To understand the March 14 celebration, you’ll need to think back to high school geometry when you used the Greek letter pie (π) — or its decimal equivalent 3.14 — to figure the area and circumference of a circle.

It’s a concocted event, for sure, but if you don’t observe it, you’ll have to wait until Jan. 23 for what the American Pie Council says is the real National Pie Day.

Fieldings Porter Sollicitors donates 150 pies to Bolton NICE

Tasty pies delivered to a Bolton food bank... by a panda
KIND staff at Fieldings Porter Solicitors in Bolton have been doing their bit to combat food poverty in the town.
The team donated 150 pies to the charity Bolton NICE, which works to support and empower vulnerable people in the area.
The delicious treats included pies by Mr Kipling and Holland’s, and the delivery was overseen by Matthew, the Fielding Porter Panda mascot.
The January 25 delivery was also a nod to National Pie Day.
The generous gesture is part of Fieldings Porter’s ongoing charity efforts, which will run all year to mark the legal company’s 150th anniversary.

RECIPE - Easy, Delicious 5-Ingredient Citrus Soda Pie

Recently, a friend of mine shared a post from the official Ski Facebook page suggesting everyone celebrate National Pie Day (January 23rd) by whipping up a "Ski Pie." As a lover of all things Ski Citrus Soda, the post obviously caught my eye, and I knew I would have to make it myself. After a quick trip to the grocery store to get the ingredients, I got to work in the kitchen.
Outside of chocolate chip cookies and brownies, I'm not much of a baker, but this recipe was simple enough that I figured the chances of goofing it up were minimal. It turns out I was right. It was super easy, turned out great, and most importantly, it was delicious.
