Build infrastructures in Nigeria, not Niger Republic, HURIWA tells Buhari

Wants ex-service chiefs confirmed as ambassadors
Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to be a patriot and statesman by building national strategic infrastructure such as railways, bridges, roads and other assets within Nigeria, rather than wasting Nigerian public funds on building railway lines to Maradi in Niger Republic.
The group faulted Buhari’s “futile effort to justify this illegal expenditure of over a billion United States dollars to build railway lines to Niger Republic when the entire South East of Nigeria and the major parts of Niger Delta regions have no functional railways.
“The President is committing illegality by deploying borrowed funds to set up infrastructure in another country but will force Nigeria to repay the loan from China which was never spent to the benefits of Nigeria,” it said. ....

HURIWA blasts minister over comment on Kukah's essay | The Guardian Nigeria News - Nigeria and World NewsNigeria — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has asked the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, to keep quiet if he cannot read and understand the simple essay by the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Dr. Mathew Kukah.
In a statement yesterday by the National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, and the National Media Affairs Director, Zainab Yusuf, HURIWA recalled Kukah’s 2020 Christmas Day essay, which lamented that nepotism characterised the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Describing Kukah as one of the lovers of constitutional democracy, the rights group said that the minister was, as usual, very economical with the truth and went on the voyage of discovery when he misinterpreted the essay written in simple English language by the highly cerebral and globally celebrated intellectual. ....

Lai Mohammed trying to use propaganda to demonize Bishop Kukah over Buhari - HURIWA

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has rebuked the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, for saying some religious leaders are silently trying to remove President Muhammadu Buhari from power.
HURIWA accused Mohammed of using propaganda to demonize the Catholic Archbishop of Sokoto Diocese, Rt. Rev. Mathew Hassan Kukah over his latest article.
The frontline activist group said the Minister should shut up if he can’t read and understand the simple essay written by Kukah.
In his article, the clergyman had on December 25th 2020, lamented the state of nepotism under President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
However, HURIWA’s National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko and the group’s National Media Affairs Director, Miss Zainab Yusuf, said it was baffling that Mohammed could misinterpret Kukah’s write up to mean he wants Buhari ousted. ....
