Ramaphosa’s only ‘success’ is forging ahead with NDR - Biznews
18 February 2021 - Despite the many pious platitudes in last week’s SONA (state-of-the-nation address), the only ‘reforms’ President Cyril Ramaphosa is busy implementing are the policy shifts needed to advance the national democratic revolution (NDR) to which both he and the SACP/ANC alliance have long been committed.

I
n an article published on BizNews last year, the IRR’s Anthea Jeffery described the National Democratic Revolution as a ‘Soviet-inspired programme intended to take the country by incremental steps – and over a period of 40 years or more – from a capitalist economy to a socialist one’. Jeffery elaborates further, listing three of the ‘most damaging’ interventions that were to be introduced at the time. One of them was allowing for expropriation without compensation – a topic that has many South Africans fearing the future. The potential damage of EWC on ....

News from the fields, farms and beyond…
On The Bit Equestrian Center at 1700 State Road in Oxford is growing faster than a foal since it opened in October.

”There were only 12 stalls so we negotiated with the landlord to build 5 more,” Sellers said, adding he recently built another four 12-by-12 stalls inside the barn. The owners of On The Bit brought 16 horses from a Cecil County facility that was closing. Since opening in October they brought in two tenants and have room for three more. ....

Honey Dew Donuts raises money for Devin Ness scholarship in Easton

EASTON For seven straight years, about 300 students graduating from Oliver Ames High School have taken a day off from classes in April each year to participate in a public service tradition called the Day of KindNess.
The event is held in memory of Devin Ness, an Oliver Ames High School senior and  captain of the wrestling team, who died suddenly from an aneurysm in 2013.
But the COVID-19 pandemic has threatened the event, which started in 2013, for a second straight year.
There might not be a Day of KindNess held this year, because of COVID-19,  said Brad Ness, Devin s father.
Instead, a local business has stepped up to contribute in Devin Ness name. ....
