NEARLY 50 families have been re-homed by a project operating across four East Lancashire boroughs. The East Lancashire Homeless Families project, hosted by Gateway, a part of The Calico Group, was launched in April 2019 and has since provided a roof for 48 families. The project, which has been renewed for a further two years following a 100 per cent success rate among clients, provides accommodation for families who are homeless or are at risk of homelessness, supporting clients into their own accommodation. One client, who wished to stay anonymous said: I lived in a caravan in poor conditions with my young children and had to use the oven and blankets to keep us all warm. I spoke to the housing options team and was temporarily accommodated into a B&B. ....

Daniel Whelan Housebuilder Bloor Homes has opened a public consultation on proposals to build 650 homes across 97 acres close to Crewe Hall Enterprise Park, east of the town centre. Bloor Homes’ South Cheshire Growth Village proposal includes a market square featuring local retail and community uses, and a network of pedestrian and cycle routes connecting the clutches of houses within the development. Under the plans, the development would straddle the train line between Crewe to the west and Alsager to the east. A total of 30% of the homes would be designated as affordable. More than 50% of the site would be given over to green open spaces, including a central village green, play areas, walking routes, community allotments, orchards and wildlife areas, according to Bloor. ....
Work starts on 119 new homes in Runcorn WORK has started on a scheme to build 119 homes in Runcorn. Anwyl Partnerships, specialists in the provision of residential land and build developments, has started work at Halton Court, a 119-unit residential scheme in Runcorn under a £14.3m contract in partnership with Magenta Living and Onward Homes. The development includes a mix of two, three-and four-bedroom homes in a community which has been identified as needing a boost to the supply of homes available for shared ownership and affordable rent. Work at Halton Court had stalled during the summer months following the original appointed contractor falling into administration. Anwyl Partnerships and Onward Homes, together with Magenta Living, have since negotiated the contract to reduce further delays and allowed work to begin. ....
