In 2009 I burnt out and was diagnosed with a functional neurological disorder. I would twitch and jerk in response to sound or touch. I looked like a peculiar air drummer with no rhythm.
So writes Perrywood Garden Centre communications and HR director Hannah Powell in her new book
 My Green Recovery. After her experiences, Powell is concerned that many people have been working flat out since the pandemic started and says employers need to be more proactive rather than waiting for problems to blow up.
Powell openly talks about her issues with her own neurological movement disorder in staff newsletters, which makes it easier for employees to come forward and discuss their struggles. ....

The Los Angeles, Santa Ana and Santa Clarita postal districts of the U.S. Postal Service just announced they have immediate job openings. If you or someone you know wants to apply, you must be at least 18 years of age and be able to pass a drug screening and a criminal background investigation. All positions have a driving requirement so you ll be required to have a valid driver license and clean DMV two-year driving history. Some positions will require an exam. Citizenship or permanent resident status is also required. The job openings include: Postal Support Employees/Mail Processing Clerk, Mail Handler Assistant, Automotive Technician, Maintenance Mechanic, City Carrier Assistant, Rural Carrier Associate, Postal Support Tractor Trailer Operator, Laborer Custodial, and Occupational Health Nurse.  As the initial doses of the COVID-19 vaccine arrived in the city, the number of positive cases has been on a downward trend from a daily incidence rate of 73.2 last month to 50.6 today. Dr. Moyer cautioned that despite the decrease in cases that residents must remain vigilant with mask-wearing, washing hands and staying socially distant as the virus is still present with Louisville’s current incidence rate being double the 25 cases per 100,000 keeping the city at a critical level. ....
