The member-owned Co-op will operate its second location just down from the food hall dining area that is home to 10 independent food stalls offering a variety of global cuisines. Salt City Market, at 484 S. Salina St., opened that phase of its operation in January. The co-op bills itself as downtown’s first full-service grocery store. It will be open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. It offers groceries, fresh produce, bulk foods, craft beer, prepared to-go foods, and more. ....

That’s exactly what Frank Malfitano was after when he saw other civic murals. “I saw them in New York, I saw them in Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, and I was really impressed. It’s really the contemporary art form of the 21st century. And I thought, ‘wow, these are great. Why can’t we do that in Syracuse?’” ....
