The Georgetown Fire Department says it's hiring but it has noticed a lack of interest as it looks for paramedics to join the team. FOX 7 Austin's Steven Sarabia has more.
GEORGETOWN, Texas - The City of Georgetown is in need of paramedics. "We’re looking to hire anywhere from 7 to 10 people early this summer," said John Sullivan the Georgetown Fire Department Chief.
"We’re in a niche market for paramedics, I’m talking about individuals who already have that certification as a paramedic in the state of Texas," Sullivan says.

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The City of Georgetown is seeking input on tentative plans to develop public spaces downtown.
The City says it is working to create new public spaces around several of its facilities between West, Rock, Eighth, and Ninth streets, known as the City Center, including the Georgetown Public Library, Council and Court building, Georgetown City Hall, and the Light & Waterworks buildings.
The goal for the public spaces is to tie together the City's presence with more functional space for Georgetown residents, says the City. Proposed concepts for the new City Center include public green space, art, a playscape, native landscaping, food truck spaces, and more.

City of Georgetown lifting nonessential water use restrictions

City of Georgetown lifting nonessential water use restrictions
By FOX 7 Austin Digital Team
Published
GEORGETOWN, Texas - Restrictions on nonessential use of water will be lifted at noon on February 23 for all City of Georgetown water customers. The city says its water has received storage capacity and returned to normal operations following the winter storm.
Water uses such as irrigation, washing vehicles, adding water to a pool, and industrial uses are permitted once the restrictions lift. However, leaving irrigation systems off and limiting other outdoor uses are still encouraged.
Officials say the restrictions will be lifted at noon is so that commercial businesses affected by the restrictions, such as carwashes, have time to staff for the day and to ensure they open at the same time, so as not to give businesses an unfair advantage.
