Yeah, that's right, Megan. The landfill proposal has been a controversial debate for more than three years now, and the waste disposal company N. C. L wanted to build a third landfill on North County Line Road near an existing landfill. So the massive project was opposed by people who live in the area and even some community leaders as well. The supporters say that would have had economic and educational benefits, but those who opposed it said it would block the city's only opportunity for growth and even cited possible health and environmental impacts. Last month, the company announced that they were abandoning the project and planning to pursue some other opportunities for their landfill. Megan Mm hmm.
