Council tables emergency services contract ELLSWORTH Citing “no progress” in negotiations with Northern Light Medical Transport prior to a scheduled Jan. 21 Emergency Medical Services Committee meeting, interim City Manager Glenn Moshier told the City Council on Jan. 11 that he was “hopeful we can bring it back to the next council meeting.” The EMS Committee last met on Dec. 15, when Moshier recommended a three-year contract that met with reluctant approval from its members. The issue was tabled at the Dec. 21 council meeting because of a lengthy agenda. The Northern Light-operated ambulance service surprised the city with a request for a service contract last year, as an existing agreement to house NLMT personnel in the Fire Department has provided Ellsworth with ambulance service at no cost since 2018. That agreement ends in August. ....

(Photo courtesy of Taylorsville City) Brady Cottam has been chosen as the police chief for the new Taylorsville Police Department. | Dec. 30, 2020, 2:00 p.m. For the second time since Taylorsville leaders announced they will form their own police department, the city has hired a police chief although that new department doesn’t begin operating for another six months. Pending formal approval from the City Council on Jan. 6, Brady Cottam will be the chief of the Taylorsville Police Department, a position he was offered earlier this month. It was originally accepted by Tracy Wyant, but he has since decided to retire from the Unified Police Department after battling COVID-19, according to a spokeswoman for Taylorsville City. ....

City Secretary Janet Dillard said Place 3 (West) Councilman Greg Aiello turned in a letter of resignation last week for personal reasons. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, a registered voter in the city and shall have resided in the west district of the city for at least six months. Applications can be picked up at City Hall or requested by e-mail at jdillard@gunbarrelcity.net. Applications must be returned to the city secretary by Jan. 15. Qualified applicants will be interviewed in open session by the City Council on Jan. 26. ....
