Old Dover NH courthouse housing project: What's new, what's next

DOVER – The City Council unanimously approved Chinburg Properties application for a community revitalization tax incentive on Wednesday night, moving the old Strafford County courthouse project one more step forward.
Eric Chinburg is planning to redevelop the former courthouse building on Second Street and add a new four-story addition on First Street. When completed the new mixed-use development will house 60 apartments, including 12 that will be rented at HUD rates.
Last month, the council voted unanimously to approve an expansion of the RSA 79-E district to include First and Second streets, ultimately allowing the developer to apply for the tax incentive.

Chinburg apartments, renovation at old courthouse approved in Dover NH

DOVER – The City Council voted unanimously to approve a development agreement with builder Eric Chinburg for his plan to redevelop the former old Strafford County Courthouse building.
Chinburg, who already owns two downtown mills, is planning to renovate the historic but run-down courthouse building on Second Street and add a new four-story addition on First Street.
The windows on the existing building are boarded up on both Second and First streets, and the former courthouse is marked with graffiti on both sides.
When completed, according to City Planner Christopher Parker, the property will be transformed into a new mixed-use development with 60 apartments, including 12 that will be rented at HUD rates. ....

Vote expected on 40-home Dover project opposed by residents
DOVER – The city Planning Board is expected to vote Tuesday night on a proposal to build 40 single-family homes near the Leather’s Lane and Back River Road neighborhoods.
The board previously voted at its November meeting to table a public hearing on the proposed development to hold a site walk.
The vote came after several residents at the November meeting raised concerns about the development, and 17 others emailed their concerns to the board.
Danielle Alley is a resident of the nearby Fords Landing Condominiums and emailed her concerns to the board before Tuesday’s meeting. ....
