Charities in Baltimore-area give back those less fortunate for Christmas

From meals to toys and hundreds of care packages, several Maryland organizations spent Christmas Eve giving back to the community to make the holiday special for those who are less fortunate.Dozens of volunteers at the Jewish Community Center in Owings Mills assembled 2,000 bags full of toiletries, hand-knit scarves and hats and other goodies to give to people in need. The effort is the culmination of Mitzvah Week organized by The Associated s Jewish Volunteer Connection. We are a Jewish organization that really wanted to make the holiday special for people who celebrate Christmas. We want to make sure people are staying safe and getting what they need during the holiday, and it s particularly important this year because we know that the need has grown, said Ashley Pressman, executive director of the Jewish Volunteer Connection.And the giving didn t stop there. Across town at the American Legion in Rosedale, the grill was fired up and volunteers with the Baltimore BBQ Initia ....
