Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards asked President Biden to lift the moratorium on issuing new leases for oil and gas drilling in federal waters by summer, saying the industry remains critical to the state economy during the long-term transition from fossil fuels.
Edwards, the only Democratic governor in the Deep South, made his remarks while testifying Thursday before the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee in Washington, D.C.

Rumors began late last week that shortages were a possibility as a result of the recent ice storm. And on Monday KEEL received a number of reports that some stations were out of regular and were selling only the more expensive 93 octane.
But Moncla dispels the rumors and explains that the seemingly limited supply was only for a day. I don t believe there s a shortage on gas Part of the problem in north Louisiana is the big freeze we had up there, Moncla says, acknowledging that some stations ran low for a short time. The problem.is temporary. You have stations that weren t ordering very much gas. You have refineries that were shut down, pipelines that were shut down due to the freeze. Judicial hellholes are the most unjust local courts and state civil justice systems in the country. American Tort Reform Foundation, a nonprofit founded in 1997, produces the report to educate the general public about how the American civil justice system operates, the role of tort law in the civil justice system, and the impact of tort law on the private, public and business sectors.
In 2020, the foundation ranks nine judicial hellholes, shining a light on lawsuit abuse and its effects. Louisiana made the report for the eighth consecutive year. ....
