BUFFALO, N.Y. In January, Talia Kalisiak, 20, from North Tonawanda was released from Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. 
She had spent nearly a month in a coma while there. Once she was cleared to leave, she went to Kenmore Mercy Hospital to recover.
Wednesday, she finally went home in a special send off from the rehab center. 
I ve been trying to move forward, look forward, just gain the strength back because I lost all of it, Talia Kalisiak said. ....

5 new pop-up COVID-19 vaccination sites available in WNY

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced 35 community-based pop-up COVID-19 vaccination sites, including five in the Western New York available Thursday and Friday.
Details on how to register for the two vaccination sites were not immediately available, but here are the local sites:

COVID NY Update: Pop-up coronavirus vaccination sites coming to New York this week


NEW YORK (WABC) Governor Andrew Cuomo announced 35 community-based pop-up vaccination sites coming online this week at churches, community centers, public housing complexes and cultural centers.
Officials say the sites are expected to vaccinate over 25,000 people throughout the week, with more sites coming online every week.
Since January 15, the deployment of these kits have enabled nearly 9,000 New Yorkers to receive their first COVID-19 vaccine dose that these community-based pop up sites, the release read. As has been the case with previous pop-up sites, these sites will be re-established in three weeks to administer second doses.
Following this week s deployments and as the federal vaccine supply increases, officials say New York will continue to deploy the kits until pop-up sites have been established at all 33 NYCHA Senior Housing Developments, which house more than 7,600 seniors. ....

NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y. Though they represent a fraction of overall numbers, Canadian patients typically account for more than 1,000 visits at area hospitals every year. But Covid-19 restrictions at the border are sure to put a dent in those figures, once finalized for 2020.
Most area hospitals say the decline is negligible, compared to the 2 million-plus patients in total. Still, in a business climate where every dollars is welcome – especially private-pay dollars from Canadians it’s something. ....
