Norfolk Public Schools employees next to receive COVID-19 vaccine after successful first week in Phase 1b

NORFOLK, Va. â Norfolk Public Schools employees will be the next to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Norfolk Department of Public Health (NDPH) announced Saturday that it will host more closed vaccination clinics next week to vaccinate the 1,900 NPS employees, as well as 400 second doses to people who were eligible in Phase 1a.
NDPH is continuing to vaccinate residents and employees eligible in Phases 1a and 1b. This week, the health department hosted two appointment-only clinics, vaccinating a total of 1,167 people.
âCurrently, we are in Phase 1b and we are focusing on the top subgroups in that phase. That includes police, fire, and hazmat, K-12 school staff, childcare workers, as well as individuals 65 years of age and older. We are also continuing to vaccinate Phase 1a individuals,â says Norfolk Health District ....

NDPH vaccination clinics are closed to the general public. Health officials say they will continue to prioritize Phase 1a healthcare workers for closed point of dispensing (PODs) until they all have the opportunity for vaccination.
Starting January 25, Norfolk residents who meet the Phase 1a or 1b eligibility requirements can preregister for a vaccine two ways:

If you are eligible, you are highly encouraged to use the online form due to long wait times. The preregistration process will add you to a waitlist within the specific phase in which you are eligible. ....
