The researchers found that Americans who were already taking opioids did not experience disruptions in their supply. The Minnesota police officer who shot 20-year-old Daunte Wright dead during a traffic stop resigned yesterday, along with her police chief. Authorities said that officer Kim Potter had meant to discharge her Taser on Wright to stop him driving away, and accidentally discharged a handgun.
The resignations came after two nights of protests in the Minneapolis suburb of Brooklyn Center, which has erupted into demonstrations since Wright, who is Black, was killed on Sunday.
Wright’s parents said they “could not accept”
he was killed accidentally, with his father, Aubrey Wright, pointing to the officer’s experience. “I can’t accept that, a mistake, that doesn’t even sound right,” he said. “This officer has been on the force for 26 years.” ....
