Holcim Mexico to launch eco-labels

Holcim México has launched new eco-labels, EcoEtiquetas, to improve customer communication and make the environmental benefits of its products and construction solutions more transparent.
The labels will be used for all products that meet sustainability criteria, including smaller CO2 footprints and the use of recycled materials. In Mexico this includes cements branded as Apasco, Maestro and Supra Cemento as well as Supra Mortero mortar.
“This is one more step on our way to become a Net Zero company, but also when our clients buy our cements with EcoEtiquetas, they will have the certainty that they are also collaborating with the care of the environment by using or distributing products that have They have been thought not only in terms of quality and performance, but also in ensuring a better world for present and future generations, ”said Jaime Hill Tinoco, CEO of Holcim México. ....

Holcim Deutschland launches ECOPlanet Zero net-zero CO2 cement

Germany: Holcim Deutschland, part of Switzerland-based LafargeHolcim, has launched its new ECOPlanet Zero carbon neutral cement. The producer says that it will offset the product’s CO
2 emissions through a peatland rewetting service provided by MoorFutures. The cement also has a low clinker factor due to the use of ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS)-enriched binders.
Cement and binders sales director Matthias von der Brelje said “Holcim has been reducing the specific CO
2 emissions of binders very effectively for decades by using high-quality GGBFS.” He added, “In the future, we want to work with planners, contracting agencies and users to further advance the use of our CO ....

Stella McCartney summed it up best in an interview with the Telegraph last year: “I barely know what the word sustainability means anymore,” she told my colleague Caroline Leaper.
Neither do I, to be honest. There is no formal definition for the word, and yet countless fashion brands attach it to their products - whether they are produced in a planet-friendly way or not.
In fact, it has become so synonymous with ‘greenwashing’ (marketing waffle that suggests environmentally conscious intentions but doesn’t actually deliver anything concrete), truly ‘sustainable’ brands are doing away with the word altogether, in favour of language that speaks more accurately to their actions. ....
