Women have dismantled social barriers, inequality, says Supreme Court Judge

“The Supreme Court has played a proactive role in recognising right to education as one of the fundamental rights given to citizens of India. With the enactment and implementation of right to education by the Indian Parliament, the social and economic status of citizens especially the vulnerable section of society has drastically improved,” said Justice Surya Kant of the Supreme Court (SC).
Speaking at the inaugural session of two-day international webinar on “Global challenges in modern times” hosted by Chandigarh University, Justice Surya Kant asserted that an educated person was more aware about fundamental rights and duties.”
“Women today have dismantled social barriers and inequality the world had enforced upon them. This has been possible in country like India only because of recognition of right to education as important by the union and state governments,” he added. ....
