I see that Sen. Lora Reinbold is now chair of the Alaska Senate Judiciary Committee. Count me only somewhat surprised, but given both Sen. Reinbold’s fervent complaints around general population COVID-19 safety protocols, including her views on social media that such requirements should be seen as “mask tyranny,” and her prompting of Alaska residents to just “sneak by (airport testing) if you are bold,” shouldn’t Alaskans be asking: Why would the Senate put a wannabe scofflaw at the head of such an important committee?
And she is also now a member of the Senate’s Health and Social Services Committee. Will she fight against funding to support – or state policies around – safe distancing, masks and immunizations because of her extremist politics? ....

Families of the 115 people killed in the collapse of the CTV building are bewildered at the length of time it is taking to investigate the man whose company designed it.
Engineering New Zealand, formerly known as IPENZ, was first asked to investigate Alan Reay eight years ago, and some believed the organisation s credibility was on the line.
In 2012 a Royal Commission found that engineer David Harding made fundamental errors in designing the ill-fated building and criticised his boss, Alan Reay, for handing sole responsibility for the design over to somebody so inexperienced. ....

As the country sees more of the footage from the insurrection of Jan. 6, the horrors just multiply. No matter where you are on the political spectrum, you have to admit that event was terrible.They had a gallows all set up to hang Mike Pence. They said they were going to shoot Nancy Pelosi in the head. People were killed during that scene. How did we get to this point?
We need to start the healing by talking with each other and really listen. We need to read American history. We need more courses in civics.
