Nebraska Public Media Principles of Editorial Integrity and Independence
The Nebraska Educational Telecommunications Commission was created by the Educational Television Act, adopted by the State Legislature in 1963. In establishing the NETC, the governing body of many of Nebraska Public Media’s activities and services, the Nebraska Revised Statute 79-1316 addressed the matter of content on the service:
(11) To review, or cause to be reviewed by a person designated by the commission, all programs presented on the network prior to broadcast or transmission to insure that the programs are suitable for viewing and listening. Such suitability shall be determined by evaluating the content of the program, and screening the programs if necessary, as to their educational value and whether they enhance the cultural appreciation of the viewer and listener and do not appeal to his or her prurient interest. ....

Organization and production of our political news coverage and our special election year programming lies with our news team which creates content distributed via radio, television and online. Rebranding turns NET into Nebraska Public Media

NET is now NPM.
On Friday, Nebraska Educational Telecommunications became Nebraska Public Media.
That rebranding, which includes a fully revamped website along with new graphics, logo and on-air designations, was triggered by the need to reflect the production of the stateâs nonprofit media organization and to clear up confusion created by the NET designation, said NPM general manager Mark Leonard.
âWhen I came here eight years ago, there was a lot of confusion over the name,â Leonard said. âIt had been NETV, NETC, NET. Then youâd go out to the State Fair, and people thought we were NTV, that group of stations. Thereâs NCN (News Channel Nebraska). There are an awful lot of media companies with the N in this state.â ....
