NASSAU, BAHAMAS Distancing himself from former Lyford Cay resident Peter Nygard, who stands to face federal sex trafficking charges, Opposition Leader Philip Brave Davis said yesterday that had any complaint been made to authorities while he was deputy prime minister, a police investigation would have been immediately launched.

The Nygard property at the corner of Broadway and Sherbrook Street in Winnipeg has sold, nine months after it was listed for sale.
The last property associated with the once-ubiquitous Nygard fashion brand has been sold in Winnipeg.
On Thursday, Manitoba Court of Queen s Bench Justice James Edmond approved the sale of a 22,000-square-foot property at the corner of Broadway and Sherbrook Street belonging to Nygard Properties Ltd..
Nine Nygard companies have been under court-appointed receivership since March 18, 2020. They owed nearly $50 million to approximately 350 creditors around the world, including 40 Manitobans, according to the receiver s first report to the court. ....

Nygard Faces Opposition on Bail From Canadian Prosecutors

(Bloomberg) Canada plans to oppose women’s clothing designer Peter Nygard request for bail, with a prosecutor saying there’s a serious risk he’ll flee before an extradition hearing on U.S. sex-trafficking charges.
Canadian prosecutor Scott Farlinger also cited what he called Nygard’s history of contempt for the judicial process for his opposition to letting the retail magnate out of jail. Nygard is wanted in the Bahamas in a separate case, after failing to attend a court hearing there.

Two women who allege fashion executive Peter Nygard raped them when they were teenagers are suing Nygard s so-called top girlfriend and recruiter, and the talent agent and agency representing her.
The accusations are made in two separate lawsuits filed in the U.S., in which the women allege the defendants conspired to provide Nygard with a steady pool of victims. ....
