The Gallery at Still River Editions in Danbury has a 10 Year Retrospective Group art Exhibition at The Gallery at Still River Editions that is opening digitally with its digital exhibition on the 17 annual Connecticut Open House Day, Saturday, June 12, 2021, and the physical exhibition in-person during the gallery’s regular open hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Monday, June 14, through the exhibition’s concluding date of Friday, Dec. 17. The art exhibition features artists from around the state, and the Northeast region of the U.S. “16 Weeks Under the Pines, 4, Negative” © Colin Burke “This image was made using a handmade pinhole camera, mounted in place at Hamden Hall Country Day School for a 16 week long exposure. This image represents what the paper negative looks after the long exposure. I chose to display the image upside-down, as that is how the image appears inside the pinhole camera. Due to the extended exposure time, everything, except the paths of the sun, vanishes completely from view or only leaves a trace behind -- reminding us that our presence can either be ethereal or lasting, depending on the actions we take.”Contributed photoShow MoreShow Less

St. Patrick parade postponed; Norwalk library offers gardening help

NORWALK, Conn. — Some Norwalk announcements for you:
Saint Patrick’s Day Parade postponed
Attend a gardening webinar
Saint Patrick will wait
Norwalk’s 2021 Saint Patrick’s Day Parade has been postponed because of the pandemic, according to a press release from the Norwalk Police Emerald Society.  “The Parade Committee made this decision with safety of all participants and attendees in mind,“ Emerald Society Vice President Lt. Terrence Blake said.
“It’s disappointing not to have the parade, but now is not the time to relax guidelines,” Mayor Harry Rilling said. “We will make sure the shamrocks are painted green for residents to enjoy. Please celebrate St. Patrick’s Day safely and let’s hope next year we can have the parade once again.”
