Norfork Council holding workshop

The Norfork City Council will hold its April workshop on Tuesday, April 13, at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.
Items on the workshop’s agenda include discussions on repairs to the city’s veterans memorial, pump repairs and proclaiming a Bobby D. Hulse Day in the city.
Under Arkansas law, city councils may use workshops may be used to discuss issues, but any official city council actions must be enacted at an official city council meeting. Norfork’s next scheduled city council meeting will be held Tuesday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.
All of the Norfork City Council’s meeting documents are available online at www.cityofnorfork.org, and the public is encouraged to attend both workshops and council meetings. ....

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) - Just months after the start of a new school year, several Northeast Arkansas school districts have begun reporting positive COVID-19 cases among their students and faculty.
As of Thursday, April 8, the following districts are reporting at least 5 active confirmed cases, according to the Arkansas Department of Health or have otherwise communicated COVID cases on their campuses. These numbers do not include quarantine numbers unless otherwise noted: ....

2 planned power outages set for next week

North Arkansas Electric Cooperative (NAEC) will have two planned outages for members served by the Norfork Substation beginning at 4 a.m. Tuesday and 4 a.m. Friday.
The outages are necessary for Southwestern Power Administration personnel to perform work on the dam’s substation and switchyard safely.
Each outage is expected to last one-and-a-half hours and will affect the 1,938 member accounts in and around Norfork, Jordan, Lone Rock and Shady Grove areas. Affected members received an automated call at the number NAEC has on file Thursday afternoon.
Customers in these areas may call NAEC at (870) 895-3221 with any questions.
