Kathleen Ann Goonan (1952-2021)

Author Kathleen Ann Goonan, 68, died January 28, 2021. She was born May 14, 1952 in Cincinnati OH and at age eight moved to Hawaii for two years while her father worked for the Navy, after which the family moved to Washington DC. She got a degree in English from Virginia Tech in 1975, and earned her Association Montessori International Certification in 1976. She taught school for 13 years, ten of those at Montessori schools, including eight years at a school she founded in Knoxville TN. She spent a year back in Hawaii and took up writing full time before returning to the DC area in 1988, the same year she attended Clarion West. She began teaching at Georgia Tech in 2010, where she was a Professor of the Practice. ....

This Shared Dream author Kathleen Ann Goonan has passed away at the age of of 68, reports
Locus Magazine. A prolific author of short stories, Goonan was best known for her musically-inclined science fiction, as well as her focus on nanotechnology and biology in her works.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1952, Goonan would later grow up in Hawaii, attend Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and eventually open a Montessori school in Knoxville, Tennessee. She returned to Clarion as an instructor in 2003, and in 2010, she began teaching at Georgia Tech as a visiting professor.
In addition to a career as an educator, Goonan set her sights on science fiction, attending Clarion West in 1988, and publishing her debut science fiction short story in ....

Before May 2017 when I was appointed the Pioneer Vice Chancellor, First Technical University, Ibadan, I only knew Professor Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe by his reputation, earned through his unassailable credentials. Shortly after my appointment, the then Governor of Oyo State and Visitor to the University, Senator Abiola Ajimobi (of the blessed memory), invited me for a meeting in his office to discuss my plans for the university. At the meeting were a few government officials, including the then Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Olalekan Alli. The governor then told me he was planning to appoint a substantive Pro-Chancellor for the university and he wanted my suggestion(s). ....
