40 cases reviewed in District Quality Control Board meeting
FAISALABAD: The District Quality Control Board meeting was held here on Sunday.
The moot was held in the chair of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali. The medical store inspection reports of drug inspectors were reviewed in the meeting. Total 40 cases against medical stores found involved in different violations of Drug Act were examined during the meeting and hearing of pleas of medical store owners were made in this regard. After hearing, the meeting decided to refer the cases against 20 medical stores to the Drug Court. Moreover, owners of 14 medical stores were given warning and five cases were adjourned till next meeting due to not appearing of medical stores owners and one FIR was registered for serious violation of Drug Act. ....

MULTAN: The third and last child of an ill-fated family lost his life to quackery on Saturday, two days after his elder brother and sister had died at the Nishtar Hospital, where they were admitted for treatment after their condition became critical when they took medicines given a homeopath.
The three children of a kiln worker, Khadim Hussein, 42, started dying one after the other from Friday after taking medicines prescribed by a quack, who claimed to be a homeopath, licensed by the Punjab Healthcare Commission. Muneeb Hussein, 5, died after his elder brother Danish Hussein 9, and sister Tahira, 7, had lost their lives at the hospital, fighting harmful side-effects of homeopathic medicines. ....

Pakistani police have arrested a security guard of Lahore’s Mayo Hospital for performing surgery impersonating a qualified doctor.
Recently, a woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of her wound in the back. The patient was shifted to surgical building due to emergency.
The accused, Waheed Butt, a security guard, met the patient’s family impersonating as a doctor and agreed to perform surgery on the patient for a few thousand rupees. He operated on the injury in connivance with an OT (operation theatre) technician. ....
