Amanda Satterthwaite, a 2010 Princeton graduate, knows a thing or two about the stress that comes at the end of the semester.
One thing that I learned at Princeton that I really cherish now is how to fail and get right back up and finish the race. When you’re in it right now, you can’t appreciate that perspective, said Amanda Satterthwaite, a 2010 alumna and psychiatrist.

A psychiatrist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Satterthwaite completed her combined residency in internal medicine and psychiatry at the height of the pandemic at Tulane University School of Medicine including a stint in the intensive care unit of the VA hospital in New Orleans, which was packed with COVID-19 patients. But she said nothing compares to the pressure of her undergraduate years. ....

A.D. Carson is an award-winning performance artist and educator from Decatur, Illinois. He received a Ph.D. from Clemson University in Rhetorics, Communication, and Information Design. His album, “Owning My Masters: The Rhetorics of Rhymes & Revolutions,” was recognized by the university’s Graduate Student Government as the 2017 Outstanding Dissertation. Karina Iskandarova: Aspiring global policy maker broadens horizons at UMaine
When Greek television stations and newspapers seek input about international policy matters and life in the U.S. as a student abroad, they often contact Karina Iskandarova. 
As the graduate student from Thessaloniki, Greece shares her knowledge and experiences with others through news reports and on Youtube, she also broadens her own horizons through the instruction and opportunities offered at the University of Maine. 
Studying in the U.S. was a dream for Iskandarova, and she realized it when she earned a full scholarship from UMaine. During her time at the university, the master’s student of global policy became secretary for the Graduate Student Government, a graduate community coordinator and an instructor for an undergraduate public communication course.  ....

Faculty Senate votes to no longer hold classes on federal election days

Faculty at the University of Cincinnati (UC) have voted to give students a break from classes on election day. 
The university’s Faculty Senate adopted a proposal, with some opposition, during their Feb. 11 meeting to not hold classes during federal election days. 
During a joint meeting in November, the university’s student governments, Staff Council and Faculty Senate discussed a request from students to make Election Day an academic holiday. 
Given that staff would still have to work during an academic holiday, Graduate Student Government later passed a proposal to make Election Day a full university holiday.  ....
