Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday demanded that
journalists should be declared as
frontline workers.
In a letter to Chief Minister
Uddhav Thackeray, Fadnavis demanded that journalists and cameramen should be declared as frontline workers and given priority in
vaccination.
The BJP leader also said that several journalists have been making a demand and have also registered an online protest.
In the first wave, we lost several journalists and many have lost lives in the second wave. In such conditions, it is our responsibility to take care of them. If they are declared frontline workers, they will get priority in vaccination. ....

Myanmar military court gives reporter 3-year prison term

BANGKOK (AP) A 51-year-old reporter for a now-banned online and broadcast news agency in Myanmar was sentenced Wednesday by a military court to three years in prison for his reporting, his employer said.
Min Nyo, a correspondent for DVB Democratic Voice of Burma is apparently the country’s first journalist since the army’s February takeover to be convicted under a recently revised provision in the Penal Code that critics charge criminalizes free speech.
It makes punishable by up to three years in prison any attempt to “hinder, disturb, damage the motivation, discipline, health and conduct” of soldiers and civil servants and cause their hatred, disobedience or disloyalty toward the military and the government. ....
