Five years ago, Alexander Monroy was an urban militant living clandestinely on the outskirts of Colombia’s capital city, Bogotá. He was a member of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (Farc), then the country’s most powerful leftist guerrilla group, fighting a half-century-long armed conflict that cost the lives of more than 260,000 people and internally displaced more than seven million. 
But today, life cannot be more different: Mr Monroy can be found brewing craft beer at Bogotá’s Peace House, home to La Trocha, a microbrewery he set up with nine other ex-Farc combatants.  ....

Police from Myanmar are fleeing across the border to India after refusing to follow orders to shoot protesters, officers in exile have told The Telegraph.
Two Myanmar state police officers told the Telegraph they fled to India after refusing to shoot people protesting against the military junta, which overthrew the country s democratically elected government on Feb 1. They said around 200 members of the police were already in hiding in India. ....

India and Mexico have emerged as hotspots of Covid-related attacks on health workers, according to a new report. 
The findings, released today by Physicians for Human Rights (PHR), showed there were 1,172 attacks and threats against health workers, facilities, and transport around the world during 2020, including at least 412 incidents directly related to the Covid-19 pandemic.  
The highest number of reported incidents - 128 - occurred in India followed by Mexico, where there were 49, according to a map pinpointing the attacks.    ....
