UK Women's Forum Broadens Sarah Bennett Holmes Awards, Seeks Nominees

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 13, 2021)
The University of Kentucky Women’s Forum seeks nominees for the 2021 Sarah Bennett Holmes award. Two new awards were added this year and the nomination process now includes all individuals, regardless of gender identification.
The Sarah Bennett Holmes Awards recognize one full-time UK faculty member, one full-time UK staff member, one UK team comprising full-time faculty and/or staff, and one full-time UK graduate student for their contributions to issues that affect women at the university and across the Commonwealth. These awards bring recognition for efforts that would otherwise go unnoticed through typical channels. All award winners will receive a plaque and recognition at the annual Sarah Bennett Holmes Awards event. In addition, the faculty, staff and graduate student award winners will each receive a monetary reward of $1,000 each. ....

UK Women's Forum to Host Event Recognizing 2020 Sarah Bennett Holmes Award Winners

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 6, 2021) The University of Kentucky Women’s Forum is hosting a virtual event to recognize the 2020 Sarah Bennett Holmes Award Winners. The in-person luncheon scheduled for March 2020 was canceled due to COVID-19, but the UK Women’s Forum wants to publicly recognize and celebrate the work of each awardee.
The 2020 winners who will be recognized at this event are Fadyia Lowe (staff winner) and Deborah Reed (faculty winner).
Fadyia Lowe is the health education and wellness manager at University Health Services. She helped launch UK’s Tobacco-Free Campus initiative, and oversees a team composed of health education specialists, health and wellness coaches, a registered dietitian, and student peer health educators. She is also a certified health education specialist and tobacco treatment specialist. ....
