Jul. 10 Idaho experienced an increase in its COVID-19 test positivity rate and seven-day moving average this week, according to data provided by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.
Dave Jeppesen, Health and Welfare s director, says the vast majority of the state s new COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths can be attributed to the unvaccinated. Through Friday, 44.6% of Idahoans age 12 and older have been fully vaccinated, which is well below the national average of 55.9%.
COVID-19 and COVID-19 variants are still in Idaho, Jeppesen wrote in a blog post Friday at dhwblog.com. Other states are seeing dramatic increases in cases. By choosing to get the vaccine, we can keep ourselves and our families safe. ....

MONTOURSVILLE, Pa. Valley View Rehab and Nursing Center in Montoursville wants to recognize all the residents who died in 2020. The nursing center planted a memorial garden across the campus to remember the 80 lives that were lost to both COVID-19 and other complications during the lockdown.
Through COVID, we needed something to do that we could memorialize folks so we could all heal. It was important for everyone to heal, families, the residents who still remain, and the staff, said Michele Brague of the Valley View Nursing Center. ....

City of McCall lifts mask mandate; COVID-19 cases still low, but Idaho adds 8 deaths

May 8 The McCall City Council on Thursday lifted the mask mandate that was in effect inside city limits.
The order was expected to expire May 26, but city leaders approved a series of four metrics to monitor the impact of COVID-19 in the area at an April 22 meeting. When three of the four metrics are met, the council can consider terminating the order.
With three of the four metrics satisfied as of Thursday, the council chose to remove the mandate. The four mandates are: biweekly case rates remain in the green zone for four weeks; Valley County vaccine uptake for 16+ years of age reaches at least 65%; Valley County test positivity percentage remains below 5%; at least one dose of vaccine for 65+ across the Central District Health region reaches 75%. ....

As Idaho inches closer to having 500,000 residents fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the state posted its second-lowest weekday case count of 2021.
The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare reported 177 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday. The only time this year that fewer cases were reported on a weekday was Feb. 15, when there were 115 new cases, according to data from IDHW.
Idahoâs seven-day moving average sits at 210.4 new cases per day, a decrease of about 87% from a peak of 1,653.3 in mid-December. ....
