Govt delays notification on Broadsheet probe panel
Minister says ‘everything will be decided’ tomorrow
ISLAMABAD:
The federal government has delayed the issuance of a notification regarding formation of the inquiry committee on Broadsheet issue, a senior cabinet member told The Express Tribune, stressing however that everything would be decided on Monday (tomorrow).
Earlier this week, the federal cabinet had ordered the inquiry, headed by a former judge of the Supreme Court or a high court, to examine the circumstances relating to the Broadsheet agreement and subsequent arbitration proceedings and present its report and recommendation in 45 days.
The cabinet also decided that the inquiry committee would include a senior officer from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), a senior lawyer appointed by Prime Minister Imran Khan and an official of the office of the Advocate General for Pakistan. ....

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leadership Tuesday accused Prime Minister Imran Khan of receiving funding from India and Israel.
While addressing a protest demonstration in front of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) here, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz demanded Prime Minister Imran Khan to come clean if there were no skeletons in his closet [Daman saaf hay tou talashi do].
“Imran Khan received funding from India and Israel in his own and in the bank accounts of his friends, and through ‘Hundi’ also,” she added. PDM President Maulana Fazlur Rehman also severely criticised the PTI leadership, and repeated the allegations levelled by the PML-N leader. “Imran Khan is an agent of Jews and he contested elections while using funding from India and Israel,” he claimed. Fazl said he had always told the people of Pakistan that Imran Khan was a Jew agent. ....

UK court orders $28.7m payment to Broadsheet
Amount to be debited from HC account in London as NAB fails to clear liabilities to lobbyist firm
ISLAMABAD:
A high court in the UK has ordered debiting Rs4.5 billion from the accounts of the Pakistan High Commission in London over non-payment of a penalty by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to the foreign asset recovery firm Broadsheet LLC.
Foreign Office sources told The Express Tribune that the high court in London had ordered debiting millions of dollars from the accounts of the Pakistan High Commission in the UK by December 30.
In view of the court order, the United Bank Limited UK wrote a letter to the Pakistan High Commission on December 29, requesting it to provide written payment instructions with debit account details to facilitate the payment of $28,706,533.35 in line with the Final Third Party Order issued by the high court. ....
