The city said Thursday that the pool would now open at 12:30 p.m. June 4, citing the change as the best decision for the lifeguards and for the safety of swimmers. The pool will be open June 4-6 from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Starting June 9, it will begin its summer schedule of 12:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. The pool will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Daily admission is $3 for those 12 or under or those 62 or older and $4 for others. Information on passes and booking pool parties is available by calling 217-479-4613. ....

Although restaurant operators have relied more heavily on federal emergency wage subsidies and Canada Emergency Business Account loans than any other industry, “eight out of 10 restaurants still aren’t making money and six out of 10 are losing money,” says Restaurants Canada president Todd Barclay. “It makes sense for government to invest in an industry where 95 per cent of every dollar that is spent goes back into the local economy.
