On the heels of his resignation from the Oregon House of Representatives under a cloud of sexual harrassment complaints, Diego Hernandez should also resign from the Reynolds School Board.
Rep. Diego Hernandez avoided expulsion from the Oregon House in February by resigning in the aftermath of multiple violations of legislative rules against sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.
Now, Hernandez faces another decision, whether he should continue to serve in an elected capacity on the Reynolds School Board. That group has tentatively scheduled a discussion and vote on March 10 on a resolution where it might ask Hernandez to step down voluntarily. ....

Memo detailing alleged judicial misconduct, sexual harassment also describes sexist workplace

The memo released Monday detailing more than a decade of sexual harassment and discrimination allegations reaching into the top ranks of Colorado’s judiciary also described a tilted playing field that put women working for the judiciary at a disadvantage.
And it documented the fight of a woman who long held hopes of becoming the state s top court administrator.
Mindy Masias, whose travel reimbursement documents had been flagged for discrepancies, was battling to keep her job as chief of staff to the Colorado Supreme Court at the time the memo was prepared.
The memo, drawn up in 2019 by Eric Brown, the judicial department’s director of human resources, argued that Masias “has a significant number of examples where ‘tone at the top’ was not applied equally.” ....

Man Convicted of Multiple Obscenity Crimes Involving Children

A Texas man was convicted by a federal jury today for operating a website dedicated to publishing writings that detailed the sexual abuse of children.
Nicholas L. McQuaid, Acting Assistant Attorney General of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division; Gregg Sofer, U.S. Attorney of the Western District of Texas; and Luis M. Quesada, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s El Paso Field Office made the announcement.
After a three-day trial, Thomas Alan Arthur, 64, of Terlingua, was convicted of three counts of trafficking in obscene visual representations of the sexual abuse of a child, five counts of trafficking in obscene text stories about the sexual abuse of children, and one count of engaging in the business of selling obscene matters involving the sexual abuse of children. ....

Statute of limitations cited in dismissal of sexual harassment allegations by Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industry.
Nearly a year after it was filed, a sexual harassment and discrimination complaint made by a Dundee firefighter against her former boss Fire Chief John Stock has been dismissed by the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industry.
BOLI cited the statute of limitations on such cases as the reason for the complaint s dismissal, despite what it called substantial evidence of Stock s misdeeds and the city of Dundee s failure to address them.
The complainant, who will remain anonymous in this story for privacy purposes, alleged in a BOLI complaint filed in December 2019 that Stock refused to pay firefighters overtime, engaged in gender discrimination and sexual harassment against her, and interfered with her ability to receive medical treatment and financial comp ....
