Barron resident Neal Herrman was on the hunt for turkeys when he came across the bizarre scene.
I noticed something white out in the field, just a white spot. I put my binoculars on, and I thought, I m pretty sure that s a bald eagle over there, Herrman told FOX31 Denver KDVR.

When the hunter approached the dead bird, he was surprised to find the head of young deer in its talons.
I walked down to it, I saw it had a newborn fawn in its talons, Herrman said. I would guess the deer had been dead for three days or so. And the eagle only about 12 hours. ....

An individual spotted the mountain lion in a tree at around 10 p.m. Wednesday evening, near the Bernal Heights neighborhood of the city.

STUDY: Mammals Can Breathe Through Their Butts | 98.7 The Gater

By Clint
A new study in Japan has discovered that mammals can breathe through their butts.
Certain types of fish can absorb oxygen through their intestines to stay alive in emergencies which made scientists curious if mammals could do it too.
The Japanese scientists found that during certain emergency situations, mice, rats, and pigs were able to breathe through their butts.
The researchers gave rats oxygen-rich enemas to see if their butts absorbed it and their blood-oxygen levels increased.
The scientists haven t tried this on humans yet but they believe it will work the same way.
This study could lead to new emergency treatments when ventilators are not available or inadequate. ....

The average Briton’s closest encounter with an orca might once have been through the film Free Willy.
But the majestic killer whale is increasingly being spotted in the UK, with a major citizen science project identifying three new “pods” that are present near the north coast of Scotland year-round.
The orcas are thought to be living off the area’s healthy seal population, with a Scottish government study launched to examine their diets and movement patterns.
PhD student Julia Sutherland, of the University of St Andrews, began her work last September and will spend four years examining the orcas’ habits. ....
