LED away by police in handcuffs, a father of 12 told his mother and father he loved them after a Charleville Magistrate ordered he serve time behind bars after committing two serious domestic violence offences.
The 46-year-old man, who cannot be named to protect the identities for the two aggrieved, pleaded guilty to three offences including assaults occasioning bodily harm - domestic violence offence, common assault - domestic violence offence and contravention of a domestic violence order in the Charleville Magistrates Court on Wednesday, April 7.
The father, who has a six-month-old child, will serve four months behind bars after he assaulted his partner and partner s 19-year-old daughter. ....

Generations of children from Rawdon National School


The school,which was built in 1861, was destroyed by fire in 1951.
But a lasting photographic record of some of the youngsters, and teachers, who passed through its doors over a 90 year period can be seen in these images from the archives of Aireborough Historical Society.
The AHS website says: “Thomas Layton had St Peter’s Church School built in 1710, as a school for boys at the junction of Layton Avenue and Town Street.
“A church school for girls and infants was built on the present site on Town Street in 1861 and extended in 1876 with two classrooms for boys, together with a master’s house. ....

Tributes paid to 'legendary' Ramsbottom firefighter and plumber

TRIBUTES have been paid to a heroic firefighter who has died aged 68 after catching Covid-19.
Ray Bailey spent most of his career helping to save lives and property in Ramsbottom, becoming a respected and popular figure among his colleagues and local residents.
During 25 years’ service with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, Ray was stationed at Rochdale and then Bury fire stations for short spells, before moving to Ramsbottom Fire Station.
“Dad was the most warm, generous and funny man,” said Ray’s daughter Victoria, who thanked Fairfield Hospital and Salford Royal ICU. “He always had a joke or a story to tell and his generosity with his time has helped many a person. ....
